ER in reality
ER in reality. I had a great first-hand experience on Australian Emergency Room last night. At around 11pm, i got a call from Ivy's mum from HK, asking for help to send Ivy to the doctor as she was having persistent high fever. Within half-an-hour time, Kheng Ling n I got her in the MMC Emergency Dept. After a long wait to register at the counter, Ivy was given Panadol for the fever, n we were put to sit at the waiting lounge to wait for name call. And, once settled down, the wait was forever. Another patient coming in with severe pain was given 2 doses of morphine n then was to wait, one with a broken ankle was bandaged n was to wait. Hai~ High fever isn't a big deal afterall. Therefore, in that room, we sat n waited for a solid 4 hours!! OMG~ Before we were called in, the receptionist nurse tried so hard to get us away.... don't like her! But well, after 4 hours, the fever was almost subsided. The doctor only recommended more panadol before sending us home. Well, i think the Australian healthcare system is really crappy, n nothing like what is said in our books. Don't go to Emergency Room if u have medical emergencies, a clinic definitely has a shorter waiting list.
